i have a coolant leak on my engine somewhere (might be 2 places) it looks like one is coming from the pulley, and i couldn't find the other.. I just see 2 places where it drips.

It's a decentely fast leak.. if I leave my car for 30 minutes i'll come back to say... 400ml in a puddle. it isn't continous, it stops after awhile..

im just curious if anyone has had a similar problem before, and if it was a crack, or a messed up water pump etc.

I also put that crack/hole sealer thrut he system just incase.. didn't do anything. it's a 96 4.6 2v

A 96, could be a cracked intaked manifold. The NPI version is notorious for cracks. If you're lucky, this will be it, but I would think it would be fairly obvious... have a look around the water temp sensors on both sides.

Water pump would be a fairly easy fix too.

Take a flashlight and scoot under the front of the car and look up under the water pump. There's a little weep hole, see if it looks like it's been leaking. If not, check where all the hoses are connected and then look over the intake and see if you can see if there are any cracks.

If it is a pretty good leak I'd have to say it is the water pump too...Do what CanadaStang says and look at the bottom of the water pump. You should see a sort of chalky residue from the coolent leaking from the weap hole or it will be wet.

Where do you see the other area? Back, front, side?

Be carefull if you see water down by the pump.. when the intake cracks the coolant leaks down in that area.. 99.9 out of 100 times I find these cars to leak at the intake manifold.

look right behind the alternator, thats where the intake cracks, if you can use a presure tester you will see the water come out of where the leak is.

i saw this in my bookmark.. incase either of u wanted to know...

it was the water pump, the gasket was eaten and the bearings were shot.... replaced that the other day.. finally found one (was looking at wreckers n stuff, nowhere to be found) for $35

Thanks for the update! It's always helps when a person reports back when the problem is fixed, as sometimes it can be very helpful for others in the future if they have a similar problem, just by using the search function.:nice:
