Just like the title, Every now and again when I start my car the dummy light stays on for the coolant. My temp gauge seems ok and usually if you shut the car off and restart it goes off but it's a PITA and I figure I might be ignoring a bigger problem. Anyone have an idea what it might be. I've had the coolant changed regularly and I think last time I had the thermostat changed as well.

Maybe some sensor somewhere I can look at?

there is a little float sensor in the coolant tank .. sometimes it will sink and stick .. mine does it from time to time.. pulling it apart and cleaning it would prolly do the trick..

LOL ! At least you guys get a float !

On mine ( F ) the little sensor just screws into the radiator, and over time gets gooped up.

The result ? Low coolant light, even when the coolant is a OK.

So,after going through 2 under warranty the sensor got disconnected.

VOILA ! No more light.

I check my underhood often enough to not need it anyways.

I have that problem too with the sensor like someone said its a pos. I think to replace the sensor/floaty thing you have to replace the overflow tank/res.

The sensor will go off if you don't have a perfect 50/50 mix of coolant and water. Too much water or coolant will cause it to sink to the bottom of the resevoir and set off the light. If you don't want a 50/50 mix, you can unplug the connector for it, which is located outside of the tank (driver's side) attached to the bottom.
