Alright guys, so the car was running good, now all of a sudden i try to drive the car today, and i gave it some gas and it seemed like a miss, like it got no fuel or something, just bogged then kinda picked up again, I thought maybe it was cause i had no gas, so i filler her up.

And on the way home it over heated like CRAZY< like it was down the street, i got home nothing was hot, intake was cold, radiator was cold, but i looked in the resivour and it was FILLED to the top with brown milkshake looking stuff, seriously looked like a chocolate milk shake. Any ideas? AHHH ill have a pic later, gtg

maybe if I flush the coolant sytstem? Maybe the rust in the heads was too much when I changed them? Im going to finish the compression check later today and see what I get. Is it possible the resivour got clogged and isnt letting coolant back into the radiator?

You are looking at a headgasket issue Mob..the milkshake is what you get when oil and coolant combine.

Yea thats what I was thinking, the thing is how would oil get in the resivour, but no coolant in the oil?

Its not really milk shake, its dark brown. Heres the pic

I just got back from a huge bday lunch so im too stuffed to finish the compression check now lol

Oh and the bad smell at start up is back, still not sure what it is. How do I flsuh the coolant system? I personally think the resivour is clogged somehow. I dont see how the guage would go all the way to the last point when the car has been on for 2 minutes, unless no coolant was getting to the resivour? I dont know if thats possible.

hope the flush fixed it. do you just run water or do you actually have coolant in the system? if you run water only get some water wetter to protect your heads from oxidizing.

nope havent changed thermo stat, may try doing that, cyls 5,6,7, and 2 all have 150 compression ON THE DOT, im doing the rest right now.

EDIT: well its 1am and the sprinklers turned on so I had to stop, but this is what i got so far

cyls:

8=130psi
7=150psi
6=150psi
5=150psi
4=n/a
3=n/a
2=150psi
1=n/a

Not sure how I feel about that 130psi, not a big drop but its kinda low, I found some oil on the spark plug of cyl number 7.

Should have had the heads milled before I put them on, learned the hard way

i had the same problem but mine went like this.

P1:Only overheater every once in awhile
P2:same color in the resevoir as yours
P3: Couldn't see where i was loosing water

1. Leak in the heater core caused loss of water, onto the passenger side floor pan
2. Water pump gave out because of no water
3. Thermostat also became stuck open!
4. I replaced everything except the radiator

Like oil

haha but I changed it a week ago when these problems were here and it was 100% clean, no coolant. Its still not over heating and shes running good, having alittle charging problems but not too worried about that right now.
