There are two "temp" sensors...the one that matters the most is the coolant temp sensor. This sensor is located in the crossover tube that goes to the heater core. It is basicly right next to the alt. it should be sticking straight out of the hard line that is bolted to the lower intake. This sensor is the one the EEC uses and one function is for sending the temp to turn on the fans.

The next is the temp sendor that sends the voltage to the cluster gauge in the dash. This only effects the guage nothing else. It is located on the lower intake as well on the drivers side accross from the temp sensor.

The level sensor is on the overflow. The plug in on the overflow is the low sensor as far as I have noticed.

Ok yea i did change the temp sensor that controls the fans but my alternator is pretty much on the bottom of my motor and if i look straight to the right of the other temp sensor there is a hard line that leads up to my oil temp guage,. Is it possible that the previous owner could have swapped out that sensor and made it an oil temp sensor, because my water temp guage is the only guage that doesnt work in my cluster.

Alt. at the bottom of the motor? Do you have any ability to post a pic of this? If things are moved around you can tell by the plug-in of the sensor to see what is what and were.

Does it have a supercharger or something? I am totaly confused at this point were anything on your setup may be.

I wonder if anyone else with your type of charger can confirm if the charger caused any of the sensors to get moved upon install...might be do some some kind of heat issue?

If the dash guage is dead and the fans still kick on at least you know its hooked up.

Good luck

To add to the confusion: If the ECT is unplugged or the circuit is open, the fan runs whenever the car is on.

This is a stock motor pic (it's a fox but things are often pretty close) in case it helps you identify things you see on your motor (relocated or not). Thanks to Tim (Stang22) and Paul (ALMOST STOCK) for the pic:

Crap I did not think of that...

From the pic 7 & 35 are on the same sides as our cars. I am not sure from the pic if 7 is on the heater cross over tube or not but it looks like its in roughly the same area. 35 is probably in the exact same location.
