Cooling systems questions

Hey stangers, oink(mike) and I fixed my overheating problem today! We just hardwired the h/s fan on a toggle and it doesnt overheat.Heres my question when i was leting it warm up and i left the fan on from the start my temp didnt even hit like 120 and it was running for like 10 mins. All new coolants thermo, hoses. So i shut the fan off and let it run till it hit like 170ish and then turned it back on. I hit boost a good 3 times and it didnt pass 180. im running a 180 fail safe thermostat.SO should i not turn my fan on till it hits 180 or should i leave it on from the start? will i damage my engine if i dont let it get to temp with the high speed fan on? Thanks for all the help guys!:SNSign:

The fan should have no real affect on the engine heating up when the T-stat is closed. For example, think about cars with mechanical fans - they don't have any issues with staying too cool [because of the stat]. Just as driving on the highway in the cold for hours doesnt super cool the engine.

Had you made a typo with the coolant percentage in your last thread?

It sounds like the fan switch made a huge difference - glad to hear it.

Should you desire a more natural set-up, check out a DcControl fan controller. It works awesome (I live in AZ). No more having the system heat up and cool down (or running a fan non-stop or needing to flip switches). You set the controller to what temp you want the car to run at (mine's 185*F) and as long as you have enough fan, it keeps it there. :hail2:

Good luck and enjoy. I'm envious - I think it'd be an honor to get to tinker on cars with Mike. He does amazing work!

no in the manual it says at max do 70% coolant and 30%water at least thats what it says in the manual
I'd get a new manual, or at least new reference material. :)
