copper header gasket shoulder

I am about to put some FRPP shorty headers in next weekend and I bought some MAC copper header gaskets. http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/iwwida.pvx?;item?item_no=MAC-3251 1&comp=LRS
One side has a "shoulder" while the other side has an "impression". Should the shoulder side face the header or the heads. Does it matter?

don't waste your time with the expensive copper gaskets. Return them and get fel-pro racing gaskets. I put a ste of expensive sce copper gaskets on my car before and they leaked instantly. I'm sure others will agree.

yep, could never get the copper gaskets to seal properly. Sure they looked nice, but the felpros work great.

I used them with my MAC headers and they worked fine. I only had to retorque one bolt. The shoulder(raised surface) went on the header side.

errrrr....never had problems from my copper header gaskets (used 'em over and over and..)......but of course I didn't put them on 'dry' either. Use hi-tach.

I put copper gaskets on a couple years ago and never even had to retighten them
