Hi All,

I am busy changing the original (I think) intake manifold on my '99 GT. I am installing the Ford replacement (M-9424-P46). I have it torn down now and find some corrosion on the head under the thermostat housing (see the attached picture). Will this seal with a new gasket or do I need to do something else with it? If something else, what?

Thanks,
Andy.

RTV is your only option with the heads on the car. I weld/repair a pair of PI heads every week in that same spot from corrosion at the gasket interface. There is something going on with the gasket seal, aluminum and coolant as the corrosion matches the shape of the seal perfectly.
