cost of engine rebuild???

i have a 69 302 the engine ran fine before i removed it from the car.. i disassembled it to send id out for machining... does anyone know what a good price is for a rebuild just to freshen it up main bearings cam bearings bore and clean??? also who is a good shop in the detroit area if anyone has had work done here

Are you going to supply your own parts?
I had mine done about the same as your talking (in Oklahoma) and it ran about $1,000. He also reworked my heads so that will drop your cost a bit. I also provided all my own parts.
Also how soon do you want it back? The machinest may cut you a deal if you can wait a bit longer for it.
Dont know of anyone in the Detroit area, try Auburn Hills area if you dont mind the drive. I remember some high end shops in the area when I worked near the Palace.

There are a couple places in the local yellow pages that advertise engine rebuilds in the $700 range, fwiw. Might have to pay a little more for nicer pistons, but shouldn't go too much higher than that, I would think
