I have a 97 cobra and have been looking to get 4.10s installed. I was quoted between 650-1250 depending on the shop. The cheapest was a differential shop, the most expensive a regular car care place, and in the middle was a domestic performance shop.

Is 650 a little high (including parts)? I remember people saying 500 a few years ago. Have prices risen that much in a few years?

Should I consider my local Ford dealer?

is that labor only or parts and labor ? If someone brings me the parts I do just gears for $150 labor , if they want a complete rebuild with new bearings and seals throughout its $275 labor
