first off the stangs doing good. minus a few things that bother me.

1. The tie rod squeaks. i think. wheni turn sometimes it squeeks, or sometimes when hitting a hole or something it squeeks. ive heard its either the ball joints or the tie rod grease fitting. it sounds very driver side to me, so i took my wheel off the other day and fed grease through it until the black grease stopped coming out and good clean looking grease came out. but its still doing it. ill do it to the passenger side when i get a chance. but do you know of anything that could be doing it?

2. second gear syncro. cant afford a tranny now, i read somewhere that flushing the tranny fluid can help this. (kinda does it with 4th and reverse, but isnt a shift stop problem). i have a friend though who swears there is no fluid in a manul tranny. only in automatics. is there? someone told me once it was like a lube more than a fluid. can i flush it out myself? or better to have someone else do it?

thanks :SNSign:

best way to find out where the sqeak is coming from , jack up the front of the car and put it on jackstands.

tie rod check: grab the left and right part of the tire and move side to side to check for play, if the sqeak is there , bad tie rods.

ball joint check: grab the top and bottom of the tire and push at the top and pull out simotaniously(sp?) at the bottom to check for movement. if it sqeaks you have a bad ball joint. note some of the play might be in the wheel bearings so its nice to have a helper to see if the balljoint moves or if its coming from the wheels bearings.

sway bar end links are known to sqeak as well as control arm bushings so i'd check those as well. easiest way is to push down on the bumper and rock it and see if it makes noise.

for the tranny it should have mercon/dextron atf in it. i';ve come across a few t5's that actually had grease in them . changing the fluid isnt too bad if you got some type of a device to get the fluid back in the fill plug. other than that its pretty simple. hope this makes sense lol.

so i just pushed down on the front while it was on the ground and it squeaked. it didnt on stands and pulling on the wheel th ose two ways. so im guessing sway bar end links and control arm bushings?

Control arm bushings (as mentioned) and upper strut mounts are prone to squeaking on compression/rebound.

I'd do the trans fluid yourself. Some of the quicky places accidentally use gear oil in WC T5's, which is NOT cool. For the bucks saved, you could try a decent synthetic Mercon trans fluid instead.

Good luck.
