So this Christmas my parents are doin things real big. There gettin my bro a new PS3 (which is at least $300 plus some games). So they asked me what I wanted and instantly I thought cowl hood. Ive always been a fan of them and think they look badass. The thing is I cant really find one close to my price range, which i think would be topped out around $400 since thats probably what the PS3 would be around with all the games and accessories. Anyone got any ideas on how I can get one for a little cheaper than its regular price?? (I've been researching them and come to find they range from $300-$600 without shipping and handling which is at least another $100 ) I live in Orlando, Fl and if anyone knows a shop remotely nearby that would help so much.

I would just ask for an xbox 360 or a 40 in. flat screen from walmart to go with that ps3. Im coming up on my following semester in college and with all my major classes and GE's out of the way, i only have free electives (bullcrap classes ie. Dance) and my xbox 360 fills in a lot of time. But, you are in a pickle, and they are usually above 400 dollars. I would chose a different gift, by the time u get, have it painted correctly, its going to be way above 400 dollars unless you find a used one on craigslist or something.

With shipping & handling included, you're not going to find a hood for under $400

Like the old saying, you get what you pay for. If your buying a new hood, don't skimp on the quality of the hood maker. You'll end up paying for more prep before it's painted. I bought an aftermarket hood for my Fox GT about 10 years ago and the freight cost was $80 back then. I bet it's probably double that by now.

HO fibertrends are 379. dont buy champion hoods, youll spend the extra money on body work to finish the hood. HO Fibertrends is the best hood you can get.

definately stay away from the champion hoods. trust me on this. i have one. it took a TON of work to get it to fit right and the quality is terrible. i had hood pins on it b/c i was afraid the latch would break and it would fly up, well the first time i shut the hood after painting it, it broke the latch out. good thing i had pins. my friend bought a different style of their hoods at the same time i bought mine, his was just as bad.

My hoodlatch broke on the Interstate going 70mph. Luckily the hood only raised about 6" then slammed back down for some reason. By then I had slowed down and pulled over onto the side of the road. Hood pins MANDATORY on an aftermarket hood. Some people say their factory hoodlatch has broken, but I've never had a problem on any of the 3 Mustangs I've owned.

i put a ton of hours worth of work into my hood to make it look decent. it was really really bad wavy and the sides of the hood were not even straight. i had to square it all up and move the fenders to get the hood gaps to look right, then had to do a ton of work to get all the waves out of the cowl part. if i didn't do this kinda stuff for a living i would have given up on it, but i knew i would be able to fix it.

and yea hood pins are mandatory with an aftermarket hood in my opinion too.

If the difference is 100 bucks....why not just cough up 100 and get what ya want?

You gonna do the painting yourself?

Gears and subframes. By the time they get him a ps3 and some games I would say thats around $400. Could buy both and have a little cash left over for install. Also with the money you could have worked up for paint you could cover the rest of install costs if not all.

Thats true...Ive heard a lot of different stories about which gears to get, idk which ones would be good for me. I do a lot of city driving and the occasional trip home (maybe once a month about 200 miles) and mines an auto. whats the best bet for me?
