So I'm having a huge problem with oil and my car. It seems to like to **** it out.
So here's the deal. I'm accelerating to get onto the freeway and my car is just POURING out white smoke from the oil that's burning out. Now I'm thinking too much pressure and it's shooting out of the valve cover gasket. My dad was trying to tell me it's coming out of the PCV valve but there's a LOT of smoke, so much that it makes me think oil is pretty much pouring out onto something hot. Also, it only does it when the car is moving, I can hold it at like at high revs when the car is stopped and not see a drop of oil come off.
So causes? Since it's on the side of the PCV valve I'm thinking incorrect PCV valve? I got it from a performance shop because i was there picking up ****ty stamped valve covers (should i swap for cast, or is that not part of the problem).
Also, could excessive blowby be causing an increase in pressure? I know my car is running kind of rich but I also need to rebuild my carb :-/ I don't have the time to do that at this point though, and it's also unrelated to my stupid oil problem.
Also of note, if i were to replace the valve cover gaskets it would be like the 5th time in a year or so. (and they all basically blew soon after i installed them. Now statistically I should've gotten it right by now, even if i do **** up everything
So I'm thinking there's been some type of ongoing thing. Let me know if you need to know anything else.
Engine:
rebuilt 79 mustang 5.0
stock rotating assembly, heads, block.
aftermarket cheap valve covers :-/
thanks, alex
