Hey,

Im looking at the Crane Rocker Arm Conversion Kit.

http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=CRN-36655-16&autoview=sku

Im thinking of switching to these for more adjustment in my valve train. As im getting ticking from my ped rocker arms.

Are these good, will they give me more adjustability? Or should I just stick with what I got?

Can they handle up to 500HP?

Thanks

If you want adjustability...pull the heads and do it right...take them to a machine shop and have them done for 3/8" screw in studs. The weak point of these is the 5/16" bottom threads...for a stock street car...they might be fine...but if you are shooting for the 500HP mark...yank the heads off, and have them done.

Of course they'll give you more adjustability, as pedestal mount rockers are essentially non-adjustable.

If you are really shooting for 500hp, as the previous poster said, have the heads machined for "real" screw in studs.

The conversion kit is fine for street cars, but if you're pushing 500hp, you want more stability in your valvetrain than this kit can offer.

3/8" rocker studs and rockers would be ok, but 7/16" studs and rockers with a stud girdle would be better.

Well my plan is to supercharge the car with a S-Trim, with around 8 psi.

Pull the heads...put some really good head gaskets on it...and I'd suggest ARP head studs...you don't want the heads to lift under boost...you know...incase 8 isn't enough

Im running that kit on my SC'd LX, I like it and its working fine for me. I do agree however that the 5/16 thread into the head is a weak point.

Thanks for the info.

Right now I have pedestal mount Cobra/Crane 1.7 roller rockers.

Can I still use them or do I need to get stud mount rockers to work with that kit?
