:eek:I know this has been asked many times but i just had a lot of work done to my car and i was expecting a lot more power out of my setup than i got. i have read and heard that the stock bottom end on my 98gt is good for 400-450hp but i'm confused is that rated at the crank or at the wheels?
the guys working on my car just told me that the bottom end will only handle 350rwhp any more than that and it's not going to last. I'm not doubting him but i just waunted to check with what i have read and heard. i know my setup has a lot of compression so this probobly is a major factor.:jaw:
I thought for sure that my setup was good for at least 400hp but instead i'm about 100hp south of that they did mention that they had to pull out quite a bit of timing (not sure how much was pulled out).

I don't think the bottom end is "rated" for anything but stock power levels, but numerous people have pushed it to 400 and more with safe tunes. I'd say 400 rwhp is a limit I'd personally stick with. Obviously you are just pushing your luck the higher you go, but lots and lots of people have 350-400 rwhp cars and don't seem to be blowing them up. But that's with safe tunes, an intercooler, etc., giving the engine the best conditions to survive.

High compression and FI typically don't play well together. I'd think ported NPI heads and the SVT intake would be the better path to more power if you are using a supercharger.

400 hp was to be the limit w/my build but after all that i'm left with 300hp:shrug: I don't know it just must be due to all the compression that i now have from the pi/cam swap and the blower??

300 with a blower???? something is wrong. the SAFE zone of these engines is 420-450 with a GOOD tune. i'd limit it to 420 if you want to be really safe

i'm only after 400rwhp but don't you think that it could be from the amount of compression i am now running 10,6,1 with the pi swap let alone they have cams and a blower i don't know how much compression i am running but it is pretty high especially for the stock block..
