I just got a timing adjuster and I'm trying to get the bolt out. How do I do that? It's just spinning the crank. Let me know, I don't have an impact wrench that will fit in there and the one I have sucks azz and wouldn't turn it anyways. Please help asap. Thanks

WD-40 should work, but Thread Penetrate is that much better.

Spray it on the bolt, let it soak for 15 minutes and come back with a 1/2'' breaker bar. Depending on the length of that bar, it'd probably make it much easier for you to use a piece of metal tubing over that breaker bar and use it as a cheater bar.

The more length to the bar, the more leverage you have and thus more torque you're putting down. Only downside to the length is you're probably going to have to take off the top radiator hose to get some room to turn the socket. All you really need to do is break it loose intially 1/4 turn and it should be loose enough from there to either loosen by hand or a regular 1/2'' socket wrench.

Just go to Sears, buy one of those 200+ piece tool sets.

It's a good starter, because every male needs his own set of tools. :nice:

Breaker bars aren't much more then $20 either... and oohhhh so handy to have laying around.

You have a Mustang, now you must have tools. :nice:

I used my torque wrench because it was long. And I recommend 1st gear AND PUT THE EMERGENCY BRAKES ON!!!! ;) This is so it does not roll on you..

I'm gonna have to try all this tomorrow. I don't wanna start tonight and then not be able to get the car running for work in the morning. I'm off Friday so If I need more time, I'll have it. I appreciate all the replies. I'll let you know tomorrow night if everything goes well. But keep the help coming. Thanks :nice:
