Depends on driving style. Every Mustang I've owned, whether it it was 5.0, a 2V modular, or 4V modular... all of them got about 22 mpg average. The only exceptions were the '03 Cobra, which got about 18, and my '94 GT, which would get about 29 mpg on the highway. If you drive mostly city, I'd expect the average to be a bit lower, probably high teens.What would you expect a stock 2004 GT vert(just flowmasters) running chevron supreme, well maintaned, with 34k miles on it, mostly city driving, to get for gas mileage?
if you drive faster to work and around town, you save gas.
Seems the car runs just fine. See, the problem is that I don't know dick about cars. I am a computer/electronics guy and that's what I really know. I do know that once in a while I feel a clunk at idle, but I think that is the fan turning on in intervals because it isn't a constant noise. I don't really know what engine knock sounds like or what to look for. The car is right around the 60K mark but I do make sure that I take the car in to Landmark for routine oil changes. The tires on the car are only a few weeks old and brand new, the air pressure is fine.Nick,
Is the car running any different than normal? You can't say that you haven't been putting your foot in it cuz a bunch of us saw you get on it at the Starbucks a couple of weekends ago.LOL. At least you could have done a burnout to show what the ricers are missing. But back on the issue of gas mileage, check your plugs, wires, o2 sensor, tire pressure, run a higher octane, go to the parts store and pick up a bottle of octane booster/fuel saver/injector cleaner and see if this helps. Also if you do a lot of stop and go, hurry up and wait, driving all over in circles,type of driving, then you will notice your gauge sinking towards the "E" faster.

That night I found that my car is pretty crappy with teh tokyo drift style.Yeah what the hell was that half drift/burnout thing you did when you went through SB? I would say your gas mileage is just about right from the way you drove that night. Next time stop by and say hi.
Just always felt that it's just a V6 and not a performance car so I never saw a need for higher octane fuel. I might fill it with premium next time just to see if there is a difference.
Right now I am around 17mpg since changing driving habits, and that is all city driving. I still have to wait out the rest of this tank and the next to see if my driving habit changes have made a consistent change. My 95 V8 has dropped from ~19 down to 15mpg in the last 6 mos and I am trying to figure out what is going on..

As for monitoring mileage, I have been letting it hit the low fuel light and then filling up, comparing the trip odometer to the gallons put in the car to factor it up since that's the only true way to have the numbers to calculate it.Like Dave said, you have to fill the tank check the mileage and refill and check mileage to get an accurate reading. Looking at the gas gauge and trying to guesstimate won't do anything. Screw the seafoam, put a couple scoops of peanut butter in the tank (skippy is good). Getting a v6 for gas mileage is a very common misconception. Every person I have ever asked what they get for mileage in their v6 has never told me a number higher than the GTs. Underpowered engine in overweight car doesn't really do too much good.
