Crazy Turn signal and headlight.

Hi guys. I have a 95' GT. today while driving I put on the left turn signal and got a very fast turn signal. when the turn signal was swiched off the inside turn signal arrow stayed lit dimly. When darkness came I turned on the headlights. The front left headlight is dim as well as the front left turn signal/parking light. Also if you hit the high beams the left headlights goes out completely. If I turn the headlight off the turn signal/parking light lights up normally but sometimes has the fast output. So.........what do i replace? Do you think it is the headlight? If so, why would the turns do what they are doing? Actually I have never had to replace the turns before. I have replaced the headlights several years ago with PIAA's.

I suppose it may be many things. But the multi-function switch appears to be the common point. Easy to change and are not expensive used.

Don't have a write up but it's straight forward. Suggest, though that you get a repair manual such as Haynes. I have one that I'll send to you. PM me for details.

Take a look at the ground points for your front left lighting. You might have a corroded or broken ground connection.

Good point.
Do as much as you can to pin point the problem so you don't waste money.
Grab a Haynes manual. Take off the switch and test it before you buy a new one. Check fuses and ground points.
It does sound like a faulty switch, but I would make sure before you spend the money.

thanks guys. yeah i would rather do this as cheaply as possible since i am unemployed now

where would the ground points be for the left headlight/turn signal? Are those the ones up by the battery on the crossmember support?

Confirm that ground from the battery but I believe the ground you are looking for is closer to the leads from the headlights and side markers. You will have to trace the lead back.

Not trying to hijack, but since I got my car I've had a fast blinking signal. Nothing else is wrong. On every other car I've owned (non Mustang) it was the round blinker fuse in the fuse box. But it's not there in these cars. Is there something else?

Also, if you have blown bulbs in the tail lights, will that cause it to blink fast?

It's a rectangular electronic flasher, not a round thermo flasher like older Mustangs. You should see it at the fusebox.

check the rear signal light it can do that some times

Yeah, the rear signal light is out on the same side it flashes quick on.

hijack away

found out my problem.....
well it was the ground that attaches to the core support close to the battery ground. the screw does not screw all the way until it tightens. it was loose causing the ring terminal to not touch the metal at times. I moved it to another location. I also noticed the core ground for the battery is kind of doing the same thing but it is at least snug
