Everytime i pass 3,000rpms in 5th gear and let of the gas it vibrates like a mofo, and it gets even worst if i put it in neutral. vibrations comes from the shifter handle. what could be wrong? i had mentioned before but i forgot about since i really dont stomp on it very much, or drive it.

Could be as simple as a driveline vibration (as the DS approaches critical speed, esp with your 3.73's, any imbalance starts to show itself) or an absolute speed issue with something like a tire.

Based on the info given (that it is an absolute speed issue, not an issue at a given RPM in every gear, or while stationary, etc), that is my guess.

JT is right on. Seems to be a drivetrain issue. My friend's 2000 GT vibrates horribly in 5th after 100mph, his passenger side axle housing is bent.

They are the little sticks that transfer power from the rear gears in the middle of the car, to the wheels.

Given the off/on power difference in the vibration, I would think along the line of other's here - that it probably is an imbalance in the powertrain.

But, one of the most common culprits for vibrations at speed is - tire imbalance. So if I were you, I'd start there. Take it down to the local tire discounter (discount tire by me), and have them balance all 4 tires. It will cost you like $15, and take about 20 minutes.

I had an Exploder that had vibration issues on brake from highway speed. I thought for sure it was the rotors warping. Right around that time, I had to get some new tires. And when they went on, the vibration miraculously went away.

seriously, my shifter handle vibrates some of the time too, but most of the time it doesn't

it doesn't seem to be speed or rpm related.

my car does that exact same thing, and always has. It pisses me off. Ive replaced all my tires/rims, Rebuilt rear end, and rebuilt my t-5. This leads me to the last thing....the driveshaft, and ive replaced the u-joints twice. My next question is, Can a driveshaft be rebalanced?

No, the driveshaft is the piece between the transmission (you know what that is right?) and the rear-end case. Then it forms a "T" and the axles are the top part of the "T", the parts between the rear wheels.

supposedly the aluminum driveshafts from ford racing are better balanced than the stockers, that seems to help with gear changes and other driveline vibrations. too bad the price on those things went thru the roof.

The factory DS's are loosely balanced with other driveline pieces (albeit crudely) at the factory.

One can hit a driveline shop and have them dynamically balance the DS. It is kinda cool since they balance it on the car (so the trans and rear end are figured into the balance).

One can also have the DS alone statically balanced.

Driveshaft long piece that turns, right. are the axles expensive? Im lost. Sorry guts its just one of those days that i cant seem to figure out what im doing lol

That's the right piece. I don't know how much axles are, I've never priced them out.

i finally took it the mechanic, he said it might be the fuel injecters. is that even possible?

i had the same type of vibration....so i put it up on a lift and got the car up to 100 in 5th gear and saw my driveshaft was shaking/vibrating/way out of balance and possibly warped....new alum driveshaft comes in on monday

Fuel injectors causing a vibration? He's smoking some good stuff!
