cross member for t-3650 swap into 96 gt

well im at the point in the swap where I have to deal with the crossmember,so im not sure in which direction to go.

here are some pics with the x member that came with the 3650,and a few of me holding up the original automatic x member.it looks like I may be able to notch the original x member.

the x member that came with the 3650 is way short to reach the frame,is there other pieces that are required?

here is another picture of the x member from the t-3650 I have.but as stated it is way too short to reach the frame attaching points.
