does anyone know what I need to do to convert a 1966 downflow radiator (inlet top right, outlet bottom right) to a crossflow style (inlet top right, outlet bottom left)

I purchased a new aluminum "crossflow" from Griffin (p/n 7-265BC-FAX)

I spoke to the sales mgr at Griffin, he offered no solution as to how I could make this radiator work, even though they specifically sell this p/n for 66 mustangs

yeah just match up some hoses and fab up some mounting brackets. Most places will let you look through their hose selection. I just put in a crossflow radiator made by Northern into my 66, the top hose is on the driver side and I found that a top hose from a 73 bronco was a perfect fit. For the bottom, I just looked at a few and found one that looked right, no biggie. All it takes is a little common sense to make some brackets from metal strapping or flat stock. You'll want to make some little rubber cushions to go between the brackets and the aluminum radiator, it eliminates vibration and wear from rubbing.

If I read right, your new radiator has both inlet and outlet on the same side. That is stock for the '66. Hoses will not make it cross flow. On my stock radiator, I had a shop move the lower hose connection to the other side, leaving the upper in the stock location. Then I used the lower hose from a 5.0 from an '85 Lincoln Town Car. Had to trim the rad. end for length. Of course, is your engine set up for the opposite water pump outlet also. I am using the 5.0 from the Town Car also so I did not have to switch water pumps.
