I was told that the front calipers of a 86 crown victoria is 73mm, comes with steel sleeves and they are a direct bolt on for a 87-93 stang. Can anybody confirm this? They are pretty cheap and it would be a steal! I'm getting ready to do the rear disc in the back (turbo coupe) and I want to upgrade the front while I was at it. I already have the MC and booster from a 94 stang ready to put in too.

I just did my rear disk swap with the turbo coupe rearend and just picked up a 94 booster and master cylinder. So much better then drum brakes and it looks sweet with disk all around. Good luck

Early Rangers (83-92 and maybe 93-96-The non-IFS suspenion years) have the 73mm front calipers. And yeah they are a bolt on.

I can't wait just because of the looks alone! I plan to get the cobra r's so it'll look nice on the freeway. Is there a big difference in stopping power? Nice avatar btw. Too bad it's blurry.

I have the Motorsport Cobra R's and I painted the capiler red and my buddies say it looks SWEEEEET rolling. I still have to upgrade my master cylinder but it stop much much better then the cheap drums. Ill try to take a few pics and let u see them.

It suks that we can get the avatar a bit bigger then whats allowed

here is a pic of my ride before the conversion

So if the Crown Vic calipers are 73mm, how much bigger is that than the stockers. In other words, what do I have right now??

Edit: And...what years of Crown Vic can we get these from?

Thanks
-Adam.

this is what i found on the web

"The front calipers swap over to the 87-93 Mustang and will provide better grip in the way of a 73mm piston instead of a 60mm one"

If you can get a pic that would be great.

The stock caliper size is 60 like sevan said. You can get the 73mm from a 90 crown victoria. Ask for the police/taxi package and they will have steel pistons.
