Im looking at the sleeve and it looks like it is machined a little differently on the ends.Does it go on with any particular end first?

your talkin about the rear end correct? if so then theres no particular order.. but if your trying to put a pinion and gears in without air tools you wont be able to get it right.. the amount of torque and force it takes to crush the cruch sleeve is a goooodd bit. I had to use an impact to do mine

Or some real long pipes and a 3/4" breaker bar. They're a real mother to crush.

i held the rear down and put a chisel through one of the holes for the driveshaft bolts(not the ones i'm using) and my friend took a 4-5 foot breaher bar and put it over the socket wrench, it worked, but it is difficult.

I used the spacer that is available from 50Resto. Instead of the crush sleeve, you have a spacer and shims that you add or take out to get the correct preload. 2 years on mine with no problems. I recommend it to everyone. Now put the 4 foot breaker bar down, and step away from the vehicle!

.....or just reuse the old one it if you are using FMS gears. Just tighten till there is a slight amount of drag on the pinion and you would have picked up the sleeve where it left off. I've done it twice before with good results.
