I dont like that style cup holder. If they were going to design it like that why didnt they just put the cupholder in the console itself? I mean who really has tapes anymore and what does anybody put in there that they cant put in the glove compartment?

Myself, the only two things I've had space in that stupid armrest for is a little First-Aid kit and a pack of Eclipse chewing gum - both for emergencies.

Sat around and doodled up some sketches the other night, going with the bent wire coathanger idea. Actually, it looks like something do-able, really, and the most it'd take (besides the obvious coathanger) is a pair of pliers. I suppose I could scribble out an MS Paint illustration for y'all if necessary, but the long n' short of it is this: two hoops, one to support the base and the other to keep it from tipping over, and two hooks that you can slip over the edge of the front dash pad. Y'know, basically just a metal wire-framed rip-off of the basic design you see in those cheap plastic hang-on cupholders they sell for a buck or two at places like Wal-Mart ... except the plastic ones are so flimsy, they barely can hold a can, even under ideal circumstances (and not when you have bumpy roads, a heavy drink, and/or a car with a stiff suspension). I suppose you could bend it up a bit for the option of hanging it off the top of your door panel, as well, but hanging 'em right in front of the center vents looks like a prime spot to me.

If I had a wire coathanger or two around the house, I might go about bending up a "prototype model" of one tonight ... although, unfortunately, all I seem to have around here are those stupid plastic coathangers in my closets...

as requested... a quick sketch...

the console would sit flat on top of the cup holder and be completely hidden...
then flip up and whala... a cup holder...

Perfect Adam lets take a factory console plate and modify it for this and patent it and make some money lol. I love this idea its perfect because you dont lose your console arm rest and all you lose is the pen compartments which nobody uses.

The only problem with this is then all the people with the broken console latches would have to fix them. With our kit Adam we could sell the fix kit for the console and then two birds with one stone lol.
