There's very little (relatively) in sedans these days that concentrate specifically on performance. Most folks in this forum could rattle off a dozen or so cars that really 'perform' but they're a drop in the bucket compared to the amount of cars on the road that were purpose built to get the commuter back and forth to work in style similar to the comforts of their living room.

As it happens, a well built motor these days means a whole lot more HP than it used to. It doesn't mean that the car will do the quarter in the bat of eyelash but it often means they'll get that lead sled up to highway speed before the end of the on-ramp... without spilling their Starbucks.

Regardless... None of the advancements help these idiots drive any better.

"Better" is all too relative though. What one person thinks makes a car "better" than another car might be totally different than someone else. Over the years, i've heard some pretty whacky (in my opinion) ideas as to why one car is "better" than another.

I tell ya though... I've got no delusions about the original 5oh motor in OEM form or the worthiness of the Fox platform off the assembly line.... Gotta say though.... what an AWESOME platform to build from!!!

Staying more to the point the idea of the thread was to dismiss alot of the talk about how many of the cars on the road today ( including some comments about mini vans in other threads) can take the fox, it isn't totally true. There is no doubt or debate on the evolution of cars today, my heavy AWD lincoln stops pretty darn good and after I put a nice set of yokos on it will plant itself in the corners, that wouldn't happen from a lincoln years ago. This thread could go on forever if the discussion centered around quality and handling of todays cars vs stuff going back only 10yrs or less let alone the fox platform. The main fact is throw a few hundred bucks at the motor with some used explorer bits, and a few more $$ at the suspension and a sn95 brake swap and this old car can hold it's own for short money against most stuff at the stop light and produce a better sound better to boot

My 11 with just 700 miles on it and a JLT and Brenspeed tune. I now have exhaust, BBR tune and about 1500 miles. It really is an awesome car.
