buying a custom cam for my holley systemax II heads. and performer intake. do these specs sound good for this setup?

Intake/Exhaust: 544 lift
224 Duration

i looked it up and almost idenitcal to the x cam just a tiny bit more lift. can i use my stock pistons with these?

those are not specs

you could have 50 cams with those characteristics and they would all be different and make different power

specs would have duration at .050 overall duration
LSA, timing events, as well as other duration points possibly. you can derive the overlap from that information.

where is this "custom cam" from?

I would advise you to check PTV clearance yourself... Clay is cheap, engine internals are not.

As for the cam, I would stay away. Symmetrical grinds are outdated. Yes, they do work... but there are other things that work a lot better. The cam is the most crucial part of the engine so why use a technology thats 40+ years old?

If I were to guess I figure Daniel is "hiding" some of the specs for the custom cam grinder's sake.

Are you buying it used? That could be why you don't have 'all the specs'...

Of course it is best to check...but I'd be willing to be you would be fine. I have ran .560 lift on the intake side (1.9 in. intake valve) on stock pistons and probes...no problems.
