I got a quote from a local shop to move some straight through mufflers, like the Corsa or Borla, farther back under the car with pipe coming out like the older style cars. Think this would work? Think it'd sound good?

Pypes just came out with a system just like this. it should work ok, but i am a little scared to put that much heat near the gas tank...just my opinion.

Interesting idea, but I will stick with what I have so far. To me it sounds much better. My only planned updrades are LTs and new midpipe.

I would keep them behind the axle as McQueen said. The gas tanks are in front of the axle. Also farther back the less drone I would think.

well the fuel tank is the main reason i wouldn't do it, but to each his own. as for the drone, it don't matter where you place the mufflers, it all depends on the type of muffler if it drones or not...stingers drone like hell. and if you are considering those, to be honest, now that we have about 4500 miles on ours, they aren't that loud unless you really crack down on the throttle. just idling, they aren't that loud at all...

Well I'm running outta ideas on an exhaust. Mine sounds horrible with the Saleen SC and no cats.

Maybe try an H pipe and mufflers to match.

I'm actually hoping Borla will make a Mid-muffler system like Pypes did. I hate the way all of the axle-backs sound.

Let me know what price you get quoted...

I was quoted $200 for the cuts, welds, and extra tubing. I think its a pretty good deal. Like I said, the Bassani X, Bassani mufflers, and no cats are not a good mix for me. REAL REAL raspy and euro sounding in the high RPMs. Sounds AMAZING in low RPMs though.

If I could find a good mid pipe/muffler set up then I wouldnt bother with this. But I hear the Cobras and just want that same sound. I know they're a 4v but I'm at an exhaust dead end.
