ok i want to install a custom grant wheel, here is the prob.(i did search but did not quite come up with the answer i wanted) i have cruise control, has anyone come up with a way to move this somewhere and how. horn is no problem. dont care for the airbag, lose the weight. any thoughts or recommendations on this will be more than helpful. if cruise can not be moved what all can be removed and what affect will it have. thanks guys

I bailed on mine when I did the Grant wheel.
If you do, you may want to take the time to remove the big old servo thing inside the drivers side fender, it's pretty heavy.

i'm planning on putting in an aftermarket steeringwheel and getting rid of the cruise control and all, where is the servo?

I may be wrong, as far as what it is actually called (someone will correct me I'm sure) but it is mounted inside the driverside fender, you must remove the fender to get to it.

i had considered taking it off all together, but was unsure at the time. mine just works when it wants to anyway. what all did you remove, i know that you mentioned the box in the fender. which i am not sure i will go to that much trouble at this time. how much do you suppose that it weighs. there should be TB linkage as well, correct? i have a airbag any safety tips on removing it. will the airbag light stay on? i had originally planned on keeping the factory wheel, but i found a really nice grant in summit, with the pony eblem horn button, thought that would be a nice touch. thanks thus far, i still have alot to learn.

Well, I removed the stuff in the fender (it is heavy) because I already was replacing the fender. But otherwise I just disconnected the thing and replaced the wheel.
I have an 89 so I had no airbag to deal with.
I do like my steering wheel very much but I have to admit that if I had an air bag, I may have left the wheel alone.
That thing could save your life. And, with as fast as my car is and as slow as it stops, an airbag could be a good thing.

i removed my air bag wheel for a grant just disconnect the battery when you are doing this as far as the air bag light i removed the bulb from the dash cluster and then removed the unit behind the radio which runs the air bag light and buzzer it is a blue box behind the heater control make sure you remove the clock spring behind the stock wheel it is held on with three screws lastly for my horn i wired it to a momentary switch like a line lock button and put it on the lt side of the column down low just to be legal and the wheel looks so much better than the stock one oh yeah by the way the horn power button is the blue one this will save you searching good luck

not to long ago a had a 99 Zr2 blazer. i spent tons of money on this thing. i bump a deer at around 40-45 mph. had the air bag not went off(mind you..after i had already began to slow down, so the danger was over) then causing me to leave the road and give that on up to the scrap yard. i have a friend with with a 94 Z28 hit pot hole and his deployed, but not mine.(this was hallarious since no one was injured) so i have had a few bad experiences. UDLOOZ not to sound ignorant but what is a clock spring. thanks

I installed my Grant wheel and used the billet "FORD" logo horn button in the center for the horn, where it's supposed to be. I'm not sure why you would want to relocate it to the side of the column?

You still use the same 2 wires and hook them up to the Grant horn button kit.
