DJust got back from having superchip installed with custom tune at
JDM Engineering. Very interesting results. They did a pull with my
Diablo Sport chip still installed. The chip was ordered from Diablo
and they burned the chip according to my mods. 1'st pull: hp-227.
Removed chip. 2'nd pull: hp-234. I actually made less power with
the Diablo chip. Really goes to show that every car is not the same
and when having a chip installed it seems like you really need time
on the dyno with a custom tune. Bunch of pulls later after the Superchip
with custom tune: hp-251, tq-280. No tq #'s on first two pulls on dyno.
I'm not sure if this would be considered an isolated case, but what the
numbers are telling me is that without a custom tune and dyno time
with A/F ratio looked at, and you have a mail order chip, and you have
some decent mods, you are not getting everything out of your car that
you could be. The SOTP feel now is like driving a different car. Everything
is better. Throttle response, upshifts, downshifts, no hesitation when
romping on it. ( By the way, it is a slushbox if you were wonderin" ) The
car feels stronger all the way around. This is just my .2. Take
it for what it's worth. I believe it. By the way, tq #'s on car dynoed
at another location ( Performance Specialties ):best pull 260lb/ft.

The cost was $325 for the chip and $300 for the custom tune. I think it
was well worth it considering what the car was putting down before the
tune and what it is now. Good group of guys over there. They let me just
hang out in the shop with them while they did the work. They are doing lots
of work on the blown cobra's. Easily seeing 600hp with exhaust and tune.
Those things are animals !!! :worship:

Nice #'s. Im planning on taking my truck to JDM to have my truck tuned. $625 is not bad at all. How many pulls do they allow you to do? Im assuming it would be cheaper if i already have a superchip installed, correct? I would love to see what my truck can put out. I know it feels like there is more power without a chip. Only differences i feel are the shifting.

Oops, I forgot the cost of dyno time-$175. Total cost was $800. Still not
bad . I think they did a total of 11 pulls. They were having problems higher
up in the rpm's with the the car running to rich. Took a while to get it right.
They say you get 3 pulls, but if it takes more I think it's all part of the price.
I say do it with your truck.
