The car I just bought is used and is stock with the exception of two cutouts right before the mufflers. It is obvious that with them capped the car has much more low-end pickup. They didn't really sound that great to me uncapped anyway. It was too loud, and didn't have that Mustang tone that everyone loves. I am a big fan of nice exhaust notes, but also like them to be fairly quiet in the car. I had a stainless cat-back system from Magnaflow on my truck and loved it. It sounded sweet, but not obnoxious. So I guess the question is this: When I get new mufflers put on(suggestions welcome) should I leave the cutouts on? I will most likely never uncap them, and my thinking is that even when capped, they will interupt exhasut flow. Since the flow is allowed to deviate just slightly from the straight path of a pipe, it is bound to mess up flow, right? Maybe not? Any idears (and also suggestions for replacement mufflers) welcome.

cut outs

if you don't like the cut outs, no reason to keep um. I personally have cut outs on my cobra, and i love the sound, yeah the low end loses a bit of power, but nothin much, especially since my first gear is so short anyway. But Its all personal preference. If you feel you wont uncap them, then dont keep um.
