My '98 GT has been lowered with the Bullitt springs (Tokico shocks & struts) for a couple of years now, but I have always wanted the front to sit lower than the rear. Anybody that has done this conversion on SN95's will know that the car appears to sit level, but the fender well gap is much less in the back than in the front with the stock 17" rims. Is it possible to cut the front springs to lower the car another .5"-1"? If so, what is the best way to cut them? This would make the front drop between 1.5-2," so am I'm assuming correctly that I would need to purchase caster/camber plates? Thanks in advance!

Yeah, you would want to get CC plates for that, 1.5" drop is about as far as you can go before "needing" them. (still a good idea to have them with less drop)

I think the preferred method of cutting is either a cut off wheel on a die grinder or a chop saw. Don't ever use a torch. And take it about a 1/4 coil at a time to get it where you want.

Don't use a torch. Cut small increments until you get the drop you want.

Cool, okay, now I have an idea of what to do...but, the big question is safety! Is it safe to cut down springs?

As long as you don't cut it down too far or you will end up with the classic "ricer bounce" which will end up blowing your struts over time.

I cut mine while saving for coil overs. Drove it for almost a year with no problems.

Cut mine a few months ago to get rid of that damn 4x4 look. Car handles as well if not better (lower center of gravity), rides like stock. Didn't lower it too much though, only 1". If you want to go lower, you risk bottoming the suspension cause you won't have the atermarket springs stiffness.

I Have a 98 GT and i lowered it with Eibach 2 inch lowering. I have the same look and one main reason is that the exaust hangs down below the chassi. the best beat is to get a really lower front bumper.
