i have the mach1 kit, but it just isnt sitting low enough for me in the front. Would cutting my spring (just a little bit) have any negative affects? im only looking for .5-1" drop.
i was thinking about the isolaters as well, but wasnt sure how much more i would feel everything. is there a reason why you would never cut ur springs?
i would try the isolators..... if that still isn't enough, buy sportlines or as above the intraxx's..... i had those before i bought the sportlines.....
cutting your springs results in a crappy ride--i cut a loop and an eighth and got around 1.5" of drop, but it rides like crap. hmmm, maybe if you cut like half a loop it wouldn't be too bad.
I agree as well. Companies spend tons of money researching how to make springs right. The number of coils, the spring rate, the height all affects how a spring performs. If you start cutting coils, as stated above, it will ride horrible. It will be bouncy, rough, and will probably ruin your shocks as well. If you had a civic I would say go for it. You drive an All American Muscle Car though. Do it right
My ford C-springs dsiad if you wanted it lower to cut the springs... BUT it would be cutting dead coils not active ones (the ones that are already touching each other)...
On the other hand the reason people have problems is that your springs are designed (spring rate and length for compression) so that you will hardle ever hit the bumps stops or may not notice when you do... by cutting the springs you are not changing the rate but lessening the effective distance you can compress the spring...
My FMS C sorings have a friont rate of 600lb/in so if I dropped the car an additional inch I lose 600 lb of force before I bottom the suspension... When you think about it that way it is pretty meaningful...
