I have Steeda springs on the Stang and I want to even out the rake just a hair. I honestly only want to drop the rear about 1/2" to get the stance I want. What is the best way to cut springs? Never having done it before I'm a bit nervous but the alternative is buying a whole new set of springs and I really dont want to do that because the fronts are perfect. The isolators are already removed from my rears as well. I'm going by the 3 finger rule, I can just barely manage 3 figners in the front but about 4 fingers in the rear. Thanks for any advise.

Its not too hard. Just take the springs out, get a cut off wheel (if thats what there called?), & cut roughly a 1/4 coil or so off the TOP of the spring... Make a mark on the springs 1st to make sure u cut them evenly...

The only thing is, it is usually not a good idea to cut lowering springs unless they have a couple of dead coils. Most people cut stock springs...

I would not recommend cutting springs.

Steeda springs are pretty stiff to begin with. If you cheap out and cut them, you are ruining a good set of springs and are going to ride like a horse and buggy.

have you thought about taking the isolators out on the rear? that would get a little more drop without sacrificing your springs (and ride quality)

There is absolutely nothing wrong with cutting STOCK springs, but cutting lowering springs is usually not a good idea. A lot of drag racers run cut stock springs because they will give you the low look desired, still maintain stock like ride quality, & they will still be soft enough for weight transfer. As long as you have good shocks/struts, u should be fine. But I wouldn't recommend cutting the Steeda springs...

thanks for all the feedback guys, I wont cut em. I'm thinking I will just search for a set of used Eibach sport springs and just use the rears, they seem to be the springs that have the 2" drop I need to even out the rake. Thanks again,
No cutty

Get different springs if u want to go lower. Sportlines should get u the look u want but will kill ur weight transfer. (I used to pull 1.9's 60s in my old 04 with street tires and sportlines).
