This was previously posted in 94-95. It doesn't seem to be getting much attention so if it's okay, I'm putting it here as well.
So I did a quick compression test on my stock, 90,000 mile 95 5.0 shortblock yesterday.
I did the test on a cold engine.
Here's what I got:
1- 121
2- 126
3- 125
4- 124
5- 125
6- 122
7- 122
8- 112
According to the Hayne's manual, the cylinder compression should be over 100 and the minium cylinder should be at least 75% of the maximum cylinder, so I'm at least "okay".
However, I wonder how much performance I'm losing and how down my compression really is from stock?
Should I continue to mess with this motor, or save up and buy a new bottom end and new heads?
What do you guys have for cylinder compression? What was it stock?
Input is appreciated.
