the duramax's are a good motor and they make a ton of power dont get me wrong... you just have to do alot of work to support the power. I read into alot of online diesel forums and articles, but I made my choice based on what I've seen first hand in the real world. You should get right around 20 mpg with one of the newer diesel truck... if you can keep your foot out of itDarkness said:Thats weird, I've been browsing the diesel boards and most seem to prefer the duramax. If I were to go with a truck I would go powerstroke anyhow, I can get those real cheap now <$15K. But one of the concerns is the gas mileage, I'm going to rack up a lot of miles driving back and forth so if I can get the "in town" mileage in the 20's it would be awesome. I do like the idea of an extended cab diesel pickup though.
I get 14 towing a fully loaded truck with 5 people gear for a weekend and 5 quads to and from sandlake with 38's. after buying this truck I dont think I could go back to driving a gas powered pickup

I agree Patrick my truck really came in handy when I moved and it was nice to help a friend in need to pick up his new leather couch. I really like my F150 its so quiet and practical, but has a fun side when you want to do a little exploring off roadLiving in Central Oregon, it would take at least 3 feet of snow on the ground before they would even consider shutting down school but we mostly just got delayed busses while I was in school. I have only lived in the Portland area for a little under 3 years and am 25 now. That's a little under 7 years worth of experience driving in snow, hail, ice, and sleet.Darkness said:lol pathetic... what does knowing how to drive in the snow is going to help when you dont have any traction??? And what kind of snow have you seen? TV?

Yeah no 5hit, I live in Mass now and these fools are out in t-shirt drinking iced lattes in the middle of a 3 foot snow blizzard in january. Here NOTHING closes for the snow!tehnick said:I haven't lived in "RainVille" all of my life. I laugh my ass off when the Portland area shuts down completely at the first sighting of a snow flake.![]()
To add to that, my family is hardcore. We barbeque in the snow storms when we had them. I miss living in Bend, but there is nothing there for me other than family. I used to walk to school in shorts and a t-shirt in 2-3 feet of snow. It's funny being up here and seeing people whine about it being "cold". Especially when "warm" in Bend during winter is an average of 15-20 degrees.Darkness said:Yeah no 5hit, I live in Mass now and these fools are out in t-shirt drinking iced lattes in the middle of a 3 foot snow blizzard in january. that and the reason I said buy a ford or a dodge wasnt because there faster. Very good point, also gearing that they came with can make a big difference.Juiced87Notch said:driver errorthat and the reason I said buy a ford or a dodge wasnt because there faster.

Gentlemen, I'm not looking for a fast ride. I already have something to go fast in, I just need something to commute thats not going guzzle much gas and is still presentable to take to business meetings.Juiced87Notch said:driver errorthat and the reason I said buy a ford or a dodge wasnt because there faster.

that'll haul your vette and 6 people quite nicely hehe, seriously though the mega cabs are great for hauling a full load of people comfortably. I'd be driving one now but the payments were allmost 200 more a month than my 01, so megacab.... or house? hehe
