Ok, im doing everything i can besides buy the whole lifter hold down set from ebay, but what i actually need is the 2 bolts that hold the lifter spyder down. The guy at the ford dealership wont order them for me, because they come 15 to a box, and they said they never sell them, so i would have to buy a box of 15 of them.

what he did tell me was that the bolts are 1/4" x 5/8" long. fine, i can find those, but what i dont know is, are they fine thread, coarse thread, millimeter sized, and if they have a washer underneath it, or if they have that flat washer looking thing built onto the bolt.. can someone please help a brother out here :bang: :bang: :bang:

I looked in my 89,Ford Mustang car shop manual, but it doesn`t show the size of those bolts.

Going by memory, mine were roughly 1/2" long,(maybe less) and at least 5/16" or 3/8" thick,(one or the other...1/4" sounds too thin, unless I`m wrong),with coarse threads and I`m pretty sure they had no lock washers.

Just get some coarse thread grade 8 bolts from a hardware store.

MAKE SURE they are the right ones...When we built my motor, we used ones that were a little too long and they ran into the cam bearings and ruined them.

I just put my intake on last week. From what I remember, they are about 1/2" long, dont remember the thread pitch, but they have a flanged head with no extra washers.

If the parts guy said they were 1/4" go buy some 1/4 inch bolts in Fine and coarse threads, you only need 2 and they can be more than 0.10 each at a hardware store.

Since you have the bolt size I would just go somewhere and buy 1 of each thread size and figure out which is the right one. Bolts are fairly cheap I think it would save some headache

Thak you guys for all the help and the pictures! I am making a trip to the bolt place this weekend to see what i can come up with.... and i looked through the holes, and saw that if the bolts are too long, it does in fact look like they would run into the cam itself
