All people with t-5's what is the deal with getting into reverse. I start the car up, try and put it in reverse, i have to slide it over below first in neutral, wait like 10 min. then it goes in. I read in the manual you have to have it over there for atleast 3 sec before it goes into reverse, well let me say that doens't always work.

Does anyone else have problems with this?? (it doesn't happen all the time tho)

While pushing the clutch in put it in first or fifth gear and then down to reverse. It should go into reverse no problem.... some require you wait a couple of second's when in first or fifth before bringing it down to reverse.

If you still have big difficulties getting into reverse then you have a problem.

Mine goes right in but I go into 5th then pull it right back into rev.

Seems like it will go alot smoother like that.
I do the same when going back into 1st

I go 2nd into 1st with the clutch pressed.
That came from having a worn out T-5. The habit followed with me but still seems to help alittle.

another vote for goin into another gear before reverse. goin into another gear slows the cluster down, so you can engage the straight cut gears more easily.
ive never read about a timed lock out (like some Porsches/VW's have - seem to be the norm on cars with reverse being where first is on our trannies [with the dog-leg 1-2 throw]).
unless you were used to your Viper, i think it would be hard to 'slip' it into reverse with a standard T5 layout.

Your car has to be at a complete stop, no rolling allowed. You can go into any forward gear, then reverse. If it still grinds, you have a problem.

i ahve to do the same thing 5th to reverse it drives me crazy sometimes when i forget
