ok well about 4mths (5000mi) ago I had my tranny rebuilt because the main shaft was bent. and either something is wrong w/ my setup or the guy really didn't know what he was doing. because now when I get on the highway and hit about 60-65mph I get a really bad vibration. I put it on a jack and ran it in gear and it's making noise from the tranny. is there something in there that could have come loose? or mayB I'm just low on fluid? I can't check cuz the fill hole was rounded out by the last owner so I guess I could drain and fill again. but if this tranny is blown I'm gettin rid of the car. All the gears go in fine I have no loss of power and no noise of grinding of any sort.

nothing in neutral. I turned the engine off and it's still there. reved in neutral, nothing. 3rd 4th and 5th gear vibrate at that speed and in neutral at the speed.
Could it be the Rear possibly?

im going to say that your U joints in the drive shaft are shot- before you go and tear anything apart, check the joints first. they are the easiest to check. I check my joints by taking the driveshaft out (unbolt the 4 bolts connecting it to the rear) and i check for play at both ends of the shaft where it connects to the tranny and the rear. Even if your tranny was blown i definatly wouldnt get rid of the car, just get another used t-5

I would do that but I paid 1500 for the car and already put a lot into it. I have a project car in the garage that I've been negleting for awhile now so I need to start on that one again. plus I just rebuilt the tranny 4mths ago I don't wanna need to buy 3 transmissions a year

that noise you hear from the tranny is just the age of the transmission and its design. when i'm going anything above 65 on the hwy and i push the clutch in or put it in neutral, i get a nice whining/roaring sound. it's simply the driveline being unbalanced and spinning with no resistance on either end. it makes weird noises, it's going to vibrate, etc.

like these guys said check your u joints or get a balanced aluminum DS and that should take care of most of the problem. if it doesn't, probably something with the rear end, but if you just had the tranny rebuilt and it has no problems other than that i wouldn't suspect it to be the culprit.
