Hi All. Just got a 2008 GT Convert. Love it, its my 4th mustang (Had a 89, a 99, and a 2001....the last 2 I put superchargers on...).

Problem is when I ordered the car I specificly told the dealer I DID NOT want the aluminum looking dash panels with the horizintal lines. It came with them and i cant stand the look of them. I want either the plain black dash or, even better, the GT500 style cross hatch dash pannels. How hard are these to replace and how much do they cost ? Anyone got part numbers.

Not a newbie to working on cars, i have an entire fabrication shop at home and do all my work myself.

Thanks guys...

There are only four pieces, two of which are easily removed by hand. The remaining two pieces are only held in place by a couple screws.

However, the airbag and the exterior plastic trim piece is one unit, and you cannot buy them separately. Expect to pay a few hundred dollars just for this piece alone.

The remaining pieces are also quite expensive.

My dealer provided me with an estimate of nearly $1,200 for the four pieces that are found in the GT500 interior upgrade package. Again, this was the interior upgrade package on the 2008. I'm not sure what the standard GT500 dash price is.

You might find someone with the standard black willing to trade with you. Otherwise, it is an expensive proposition.

Just to let you know the "cross-hatched" dash is called the charcoal woven appliqué and it is not unique to the GT 500. It is an option on all mustangs and could have been chosen when you ordered the car. It's going to be pricey to switch the pieces all because of the airbag.

I wish I could find someone who wanted silver and would be willing to trade. Or, find someone ordering who wanted silver, have them order charcoal, then trade. I want the charcoal! But it looks like the only cost effective solution is a good carbon-fiber dash kit.

Friend of mine got a carbon fibre pack off ebay and stuck it on. It looks brilliant.

The machined finish would be cool too. I'm sure woodview is working on it right now. I wish they'd come out with something to replicate the woven charcoal panel.

Interesting link. I didn't realize the GT500 dash was NOT the same as woven charcoal

Here's the machined finish.

I have and love the woven charcoal. I wonder how shiny the machined finish is. Would it blind you on a bright day?

I'm sure many will complain about that. I know when the sun catches the bezel on the instrument cluster right it really annoys me. I want the woven charcoal badly.
