Dash Lights to Dim

I am at a lost. I installed a set of white face guages from MAC. The kind that you peel and stick on your factory gauges. I noticed that the dash lights got real dim after the installation and there is not much adjustment with dimmer switch. I replaced the dimmer switch still same problem. Any ideas at what might be cause.

forgive me on this one as I haven't driven my stang at night in a long time, but our gauges are backlit, right?
if they are, you just put an overlay over all the opaque parts of the gauges which will cut down light transmission. try taking out the cluster and replacing the factory bulbs with brighter ones. LEDS would probably work best.

I think those kind usually require removing the factory stickers first, don't they?
