I am in the process of replacing my gauges in my dash and it would make it alot easier if some one knows the wiring that matchs the number on the dash pannel harness. I have a 78 Ghia with a 302. I looked at the photo on the mustang II tech site for some one that label there dash harness but it is not the same as mine. The main issue is finding the correct wire for the sending unit for the fuel gauge that picks up the fuel level in the tank. I have already found the ground, dash light and key power wires.
The harness is labeled with 1-18 on the plastic connector that plugs into the back of the gauge cluster. Here are the colors and matching numbers on my harness
1 red ..this is the key on power
2 yellow with green strip
3 light blue (i think) with red strip ...this is the dash lights
4 red with white strip
5 green with dark green strip
6 white with red strip
7 puple wire and green wire in the same connection
8 not used
9 red with yellow hash marks
10 not used
11 not used
12 not used
13 white with blue strip
14 green with white strip
15 black ...this is a ground
16 black with green hash marks
17 green with white strip
18 yellow with white strip
If anyone can be of help or knows how to find the right wire for the fuel sending unit that would be great.
