I have a 2003 Mustang V-6, completely stock, and I developed an issue with my steering. When I first bought my car, brand new, the steering was perfect. Driving down the highway at night, the steering was so direct and confident. It begged for me to put the pedal down. For some reason though, my steering feel has progressively "numbed" and now there is a bit of a dead spot in the middle when I am going straight. No longer do I find the same enjoyment on spirited runs. Going straight sometimes becomes a task, amplified as speeds increase, and I find my steering wheel completely unresponsive in the dead spot in the middle (it merely wobbles back and forth). I thought it may have been the tires, but I have always used Toyo Proxes and even with completely new sets, the problem isn't alleviated. I dropped by NTB to get an alignment the other day, and told them. They responded saying that my steering is rack and pinion and that it cant be fixed. Are they right or is there a solution? Thanks for all the help and responses in advance.

Your rack and pinion can always be replaced. When was the last time you changed your power steering fluid?
