Like you, I have a Lincoln LS for my daily driver. We are fortunate to be able to afford 2 cars. But if I could keep only 1 car, it's no contest, my Mustang would be gone in an instant and I'd keep the LS. Most Mustang customers are buying one as their only car. The lack of refinement and creature comforts is driving those consumers to Asian brand competition.

That's sort of the point of this thread.
The Mustang is missing creature comforts which is limiting it's sales to the average consumer who would use their Mustang as a daily driver. (see my thread on 4th consecutive month of lackluster 05 Mustang sales).

The bar is constantly moving. What was acceptable 5 years ago may be a "I won't buy a Mustang if it doesn't have it" decision today.

Don't give me any arguments about Mustangs being a performance car and none of these creature comforts are needed. If it wasn't for the 60% of Mustang sales to "average" consumers, there would be NO Mustangs for 40% who are gearheads. It has always been that way from the day the Mustang was introduced in 1964. Sales of softer Mustangs to the average consumer is what has kept the Mustang in production for 41 years.

When the first spy shots of the new Mustang were released I was certain Ford would make a ton of money on this car and skyrocket their stock. So I pluncked down another $5000 of "F" and it has gone down even further despite skyrocking Mustang sales. I should have added that to my downpayment. Recently I read an article that said Ford makes very little money on selling cars. ( Now aint that sumptin') They get most of their profit money from their finance company and what they earn on cars is just a drop in the bucket.

Same thing with most auto companies anymore. GM is even worse. That's the ONLY place they're making any money at all. This is why I got a 2% better interest rate on my Magnum going through my credit union than dodge.

You do make valid points, but the sales of the so called "softer" mustang making up the majority of the sales because of creature comforts is WAY off base.

The majority stake in Mustang sales since 1964 have always been the less expensive and less optioned 6 (or 4 in the 80's) cylinder cars. These were no option, no frill, and no power cars. They have always made up the majority of Mustang sales since their inception. Unnecessary options have ALWAYS been seen predominantly in the V8 or GT models and therefore make up the minority of Mustang sales. Hell, most non-GT cars do not even have most options available to them unlike the GT.

They need to bring back a stripper LX. Gear heads will buy it and "The I need heated seats" crowd can buy a GT.
They should drop the 6 cylinder and replace it with a stripper LX.

I think it's just natural for people to take their favorite car, especially if it's their daily driver, and wish for a few small (or large) changes in it. After all, it's their car and their wish. I don't begrudge them that. I'm surprised someone would start a thread just mentioning a small detail that he wished could be changed (not DEMANDING it) and it would turn into bashing of anyone wishing to change the Mustang.

Yeah, we get it. The car is cheap and a person shouldn't expect much. But it's still nice to dream every once in awhile of upgrades that might make life a bit easier.

WHAT!! Shame on you!!! Man I wouldn't trade my, cheap built, no vanity mirrors, no remote trunk lock, tiny door pocket, no glove box lock, chick magnet, and sometimes PITA 05 Mustang for all the rice in the world.
