I am caught between wether to buy a new 05 GT in a year or so or to buy a 97 Cobra. The cobra has some aftermarket stuff (nothing serious that would cause any problems down the road) which suposedly gives it around 325whp. I would also save about $10K on the purchase and my insurance would stay about the same. Lookwise I like the 05 a lot better but the 96-98 body is my second favorite for the more recent stangs. I hate the cobra has a brand new engine with only 14k miles and the rest of it is suposed to be immac. The reason it has a new engine is that it was taken to jiffy lube or a place like it and they forgot to tighten the plug or filter (not sure which) but long story short it ruined the motor. Just want to find out what you other mustang lovers think.

I love my Cobra.

It is a 97 Vert, blown with a built bottom end.

Depends on you dude.

The Cobra already has a wide variety of aftermarket accessories and many shops know how to work on the Cobra engine.

Where as nobody REALLY tinkered with the 3V.

Buy the 05 GT. I feel that you should get what you want and the 05 chassis is a great platform to start with. You will also love the 3valve motor.

Being a drag racer, I, too, would choose the 97 Cobra (if it was MY car) over the 05 Mustang GT. My reasoning is that with the monetary savings, I would be able to drop some serious coin into the motor (like a power adder - turbo or supercarger) or get a built motor from VT Engines...

The only mustang I would buy would be 03/04 Cobra, besides an 05 GT

I'd hesitate to buy a car from anyone who has their car serviced at Jiffy Lube. But ultimately it's a $$$ decision, and you're the only one who can make it.
