I'm getting ready to beef up my rear traction with some 18x10" deep dishes in the rear. I've been eyeballing the bullitts that american muscle carries

here

They look like a much shiner chrome than the 18" bullitts that come with the premium GT though. Does anybody know of an 18x10" bullitt that has the same polish as the stockers?

Also, does anybody have some good input on what tires to get? Something softer would be good, but not so soft that they wear down from a lot of highway use.

Thanks all!

Dustin

Well the stock wheels are a polished aluminum arent they? Im not 100% sure. As those DD Bulitts may be actual Chrome? Chrome is heavier than crap, looks nice, and really durable (rocks have a hard time banging them up.)

I would go with a wheel that will support a big brake kit, something to think about.

As for tires, I only have experience with my Nitto's, I enjoy them, good traction, and seem to have no wear so far. (only 4,000 miles on them though.)

The stock ones you're referring to are polished aluminum. They'll look different even if the finish is the same because the spokes at lip are slightly different. I'm not aware of any aftermarket polished ones. They're usually either chrome are argent with a polished lip.

Hah, I was afraid someone might say how great Nitto's are...pretty well the most expensive ones I've seen but I guess you get what you pay for.

And yeah, you're both right, the stockers are polished aluminum. I guess when you get right down to it, the only real matching situation is to end up with all four wheels getting the upgrade. Looks like the penny jar's getting rolled this weekend.

Wind Farmer, that's a good point about a brake system. Is that to say that these wheels I'm looking at don't accommodate for that or just as a note to keep that in mind while shopping around?

Nitto 555's are fantastic!

No really, though, they are. And I love the sizing I went with. 255/45-18 and 295/45-18. Nope, not cheap.. About $700 I believe is what I paid, plus mounting and balancing.

Those DD Bullitts you are looking at will not support a big brake kit. I was initially looking at them as well, but for that reason; I did not go with them. I know some day I'll get bored with my setup and throw on new parts - big brake kit being one.
