Deleted heater, need some help.

I just finished ripping out the heater in my 88, and I was wondering it the metal tubes that come out of the water pump one runs to the heater hard lines, and the other to the t-stat housing can be removed out of the water pump. I deleted the heater hard lines that run to the heater core, and I did not want to just cut a hose and plug it, I wanted to remove it, and put a brass plug into the water pump. Has anyone else done this. I tried removing it with vise grips, but I don't know if it is left or right hand threads, or if it even comes out. If you know what I am talking about, please help me out. Thanks.

You cant remove the black tube because one of your sensors is in the tube towards the front. I forgot what sensor it is. You need to loop a hose where the heater core lines use to come from. I took my heater out but want to put one back in. If yours is in good working condition shoot me a pm with a price if you want to sell it.

The hard lines run to:

heater core - N/A
EGR cooler -which more or less just heats up the intake, your egr does not run while the engine is under any significant load.
ECT - This is the important one. It's all pipe thread. Hardware stores sell these fittings and what is needed is an adapter, I am pretty sure it is a 1/2" to 3/8ths adapter so the ECT can be then placed where the old hardline pipe used to run.

I already relocated the sensor to where the black tube was with a 1/2-3/8 npt reducer, so that is taken care of already. I just wanted to get rid of the metal line that comes out of the water pump and put a brass plug in it so you never knew that line was ever in the water pump. I did a search, and I know they come out, but I don't want to break the water pump, they are in good. Does anyone know if they are right or left hand threads? Thanks again.

I am not sure weather they even tread in, they might be bonded, but I am not sure. I would think they would be RHT though, they only use LHT when there is actually a reason for it.

At a closer look, I think you are right 90mustangGT, they do look like they are bonded in there. I will try and figure something out. Thanks for your help.

I'd also like to know about pulling that tube out of the water pump.

I have seen Edelbrock pumps have threads there, but never any other brand.
