deleting pass fender stuff

in an effort to clean up the engine bay, i took out the smog pump, egr, and now want to delete the charcoal canister and the vacuum tree thing. Will this cause any problems.

from what i've found, only problem with deleting the charcoal canister is possible gas vapors. what about the hosing running to the canister thing in the engine bay that connects to the main harness. will disconnecting that give me computer problems?

The vacuum tree, can this just be all capped off and taken out?

EGR, can i just cut out the wires and cap them off without computer problems or should i buy that eliminator off ebay?

The only thing I can tell you for sure is that you won't have any problems deleting the vaccum tree. I have three lines coming off my upper intake...1.Brake Booster 2. Fuel Pressure Reg. 3. PCV via an oil seperator

For the EGR, however you are tuning the car, you can eliminate the EGR function.

WHy would you want to get rid of the charcoal canister...your either gonna have to vent the tank and waste gas while the car is sitting...or build up a whole bunch of pressure in the fuel system while the car sits...unnescessarily stressing seals and lines, etc.

personally i hate the smell of gas when i drive or when i get out of the car.

i kept mine.

I got rid of all of that stuff in the fender just yesterday. Figured as long as I'm having a chip remove it all, might as well lighten the load.

I've driven my car all summer with no charcoal canister (mine hated me - kept spewing raw fumes in the engine compartment - even after putting a brand new one on the car). I put a vaccum cap over the metal line, and a zip tie on it to keep it from popping off. I thought it might expand with the pressure, but it hasn't yet. I did this as opposed to crimping the line, so it would have a relief of sorts if it ever did get too hot in the tank. I'm sure the cap would blow before the tank would give.

No problems in the heat of summer.

I already had the smog/egr removed from the year before.

As of a month ago, yeah. I broke the t fitting and now only have the one line.

paul, did it throw a code without the hose attached to the cylinder thing in the engine compartment? the line that runs from the back of the intake to the cannister but tees off to that sensor in between.

No, I tested this before I removed it. I unplugged the solenoid on the firewall and capped the hose off. No CEL.

The only thing I didn't try was unplugging all the stuff in the fender. There are 3 gizmos on a mount hooked to the wiring harness. I removed the whole mount and the final line running to the tree on the intake. I'm going to turn off the smog with the new chip. So I tossed it all.

So far the only CEL I've ever thrown was the EGR sensor, which I did the "push the plunger in halfway" on.
