Desperate for a center console!

one of the vendors is selling a repro shelby console. cant remember the price but its spendy.

finding an original console that is not torn up will be a challenge. expect to pay through the nose for it.

If its in good shape grab it. I paid $450 for a 1968 Mustang centre console. Now it was mint and i think the cougar consoles are worth less but $190 for a good console is a steal. These were optional extras over 30 years ago, to find a good one is difficult, regardless of price.

I just recently (within 2 weeks) sold my 67 mustang center console with two small hairline cracks in the plastic but with FLAWLESS brushed aluminum and no cut up radio hole for $480 on ebay shipped.

Good Luck to you my friend,
-Tim

I don't know what a COugar console goes for, but I've seen good Mustang consoles go for a lot more than that on Ebay.

I know, I've seen them hit $700... but mine was not black, it was saddle and it needed to be cleaned up a bit so I got what I wanted for it.... :D
But if you've got a console from a mustang that's for a manual transmission, you can make some sweet coin. I didn't need/want mine in my car, I've got the shelby look goin' on inside..

I paid about $350 for a black manual trans ctr console on Ebay. Plastic was in good shape but the black camera case strip needed repainting and the brushed aluminum (or whatever it is...) is a little pitted but not too much for my daily driver. I keep looking for them to be reproduced like the 65-66 consoles.

I think the cougar ones are different, I'm not sure what all the diffs are but I want to say they are padded like the 68's and that they don't have a sliding door, they have a great big clock there instead.

I know the overhead console is different, it's just a little pod with map lights and the "convienience" indicator lights instead of the full-length job.

speaking of the center brushed aluminum being pitted... Doesn't someone (MustangsUnlimited?) sell these inserts? I haven't looked close yet because I'm working on mechanical issues right now on my car and not the interior, but I imagine they pop out easily.

Also, although a little off topic, I've been looking for replacement door panels for my 67 and I can't seem to find any with the remote mirror hole - am I just going to have to make it myself or am I not looking hard enough?

I think you're gonna have to cut it yourself, I couldn't find any with that hole so I'll be cutting one when the car is back from painting.

I think those inserts are basically stickers, the console isn't like the alum door and dash panels with removable inserts. the console top is 4 peices (radio area, shifter area, long top, ashtray) and each of those is one casting.
