My plan for the weekend is to take apart the interior such as removing seats, carpet, consol, parts of the dash, etc... Cleaning everything by hand and putting everything back together.

I want to also scrub down the floor boards with a wire brush and paint everything with white rust paint by hand brush so there won't be a bunch of fumes to worry about before replacing the carpet. I "may" also remove all the factory tar crap and put some dynamat (or whatever it's called) on the floor boards.

While I have the plastic side panels out, I may remove the side windows to restore those moldings as they are pitted.

Anyway I'd have a pretty damn clean and mint interior after all this ordeal. It's just a huge PITA (done it before). Any other ideas? I'm doing this because this car has NOT BEEN CLEANED IN 17 FREAKING YEARS! There's a ton of crap in there and it smells like wet dog!! EWWWW :nonono:

Magic erasers! Cleans that black crap that accumulates in the "immatation leather" grooves of the vinyl and plastic. Fast too.

I dunno about yours but that resin sound proofing came up real easy on my car. All I needed was a scrapper and a razorblade and my fingers when I cur pireces of it away for my welder.

Honestly I've been thinking of doing the same thing. right down to replacing the sound proofing.

umm nope, it was hard enough waiting a year to get another 'stang.

Thanks for the Magic eraser tip, I'll try that. I started to detail the trunk last night. What a nightmare! The deck lid was blue (guy backed into a branch and ruined the trunk lid and a taillight) and they used some sort of water based paint for the underside (outside is fine). I had to clean the whole thing with gas, primer and paint. I took apart the wire harness to change all the wrapping... I just need to finish the trunk floor and sides now.

For my vacation, I'll be doing the undercarriage :)
