One quick question...I have the C&L intake system with the diablo predator and i installed the 91 octane C&L MAF tune. I was wondering how i adjust the gas to 87 octane. If i do that will the performance be worse. Any comments on this issue would be greatly appreciated

what are if any, the noticable changes after the install and tune? Was it worth 650 big ones?

To be honest, this was the best $650 of my life. The sound was deeper, the throttle response was so much better, the gas mileage is better, and the tuner is awesome, i changed my idle to 1200 so when it sits at a light or something the car just idles so much louder with my Borla exhaust. I strongly recommend this kit

I did the same thing, I E-mailed diablo and they e-mailed me back to change the global spark -2

From various users' experience, do all the CAIs (that have a tune for them) work about the same? Is there a stand-out winner in this category?

If you read in the Diablo Predator manual it says to change the WOT or global spark so i did what it says and adjusted it very easily to my liking. The Predator is very easy to use and since it comes with a custom tune from C&L it makes it even easier. As for other CAI i dont know if there is custom tunes besides the STEEDA so i went with the C&L. I heard the JLT is good because of the non metal inlet. It creates less heat, but i would strongly suggest the C&L, the results have exceeded expectations and is awesome!

There seems to be an equal amount of JLT and C&L users that both own and love their "CAI". Either one would be great but it does seem the JLT gets a small edge on the C&L for performance and a big edge in terms of dollar per HP.

You also gotta love JLTs up-front post about the mods for their intake on the forum as well. They seem to want to stand behing their product.

Once boating season is over I'm probably going with the JLT primarily because of their candor regarding the issue they are having.

I just installed a c&l cai with the Diablo c&l 93 calibration. I set global spark to -3 and set the 5000-7000 rpm to -7.5% as I am only running 87 octane. I have not noticed any spark knock and the throttle response and drivability is great.

Just curious, does it tell you that in the manual the exact settings on which tune to bring it to 87 octane? Or is it from knowledge and/or emailing diablosport?

My tuning is just from experience and playing with the tuner. The instruction sheet that comes with the C&L pipe says to remove 20% timing in the low and high timing ranges in the global spark adjustment page. I did this and the car ran poorly so I started playing with the tuner until it felt right.
