I have a Lightning Audio 2-channel amp paired with one Alpine Type S sub. I've had it installed in the stang (to the stock mach 460, with rca converter) for a while and had it in my old car before that. Last night, I was slumping E-40 "Muscle Cars" and all of the sudden smelled a burning smell, and the sub stopped hitting... so I turned off the system. Today, I turn it on and it seemed to work again, but then the Protection Light comes on after a few minutes and the sub stops working.
Tonight I tried it again, the sub didn't sound so good and the lights were dimming bad.
There's no other problems with the car starting, so I don't think it's the alternator.
I think I messed up the amp, because the protection light is coming on. But why would my lights dim so bad? The other thing I was thinking is that I could have blew the voice coils on the sub?
Maybe it's just a connection problem, and a coincedence...any thoughts?
